Breaking Points Test Us All But They Can Be The Catalyst To Chase Your Dreams!

Share

Consider the possibility, that when things are as bad as they can be, it may be the perfect time to chase your dreams. Being vulnerable at a time of struggles and pains is a normal human trait. One thing you need to be clear in your mind is when difficulties strike, your life hasn’t ended.

Let me share a time in my life with you!

There was a time when my life seemed so difficult, where nothing I tried seemed to work. Then I went for a check-up at the Doctor, just for some irritating symptoms, and within 24 hours I found myself on a fast-track referral for suspected cancer.

My immediate reaction was, ‘oh no, I don’t deserve this, and then I remember thinking to myself “I can’t take this any longer?”

Now this was a crucial moment in my life, not because of the fear or threat of Cancer, but where at this very second I’d allow my focus to go.

It could easily have become my breaking point, spiraling into depression, giving up on any future hopes I may have had.

Alternatively, with courage and resilience, I refused to accept allowing any fears to dictate what I would do from now on, and instead chose to focus my mind, and effort on moving forward in every way I could and did what i’m saying to you, chase your dreams, which is what I did.

Breaking points can so easily come out of the chaos and stress we face in life and break us. Yet every one of us can use that moment to be the best we can be. Just like the boxer knocked to the canvas but immediately picking themselves up.

A breaking point is not an isolated incident but the culmination of an internal process; tension and stress often build over time until we have had enough.

My reaction to the fear of cancer could have seen me just give up, being on top of the other trials and tribulations I was facing at the time, believing in the worst possible outcome, allowing it to be that knockout punch, leaving my life at the mercy of events.

Thank God that wasn’t what I allowed. After all we all have the ability to choose how we react, and how we think to any situation.

“When adversity strikes, that’s when you have to be the most calm. Take a step back, stay strong, stay grounded, and press on.” LL Cool J

When you are against the ropes, you can stay there and let the punches come, or you can fight back, and refuse to let defeat come your way, and instead chase your dreams.

I wouldn’t let myself expect the worse, I refused to waste time searching Google for survival rate of the type of cancer I was being reviewed for. Over these things I had no control and why waste my time and undoubtedly allow myself to feel sorry for myself and imagine the worst possible outcome.

Instead, I asked myself a simple, but powerful question “where do I go from here?”

I decided to make a shift and respond differently. I knew I needed to move away from the chaos and into the calm.

I accepted this life event possibly unfolding in front of me. I couldn’t change my circumstances. Yet I refused to allow It to torture me, instead I immediately took steps to re-arrange the puzzle of my life as far as I could.

This very choice turned my breaking point to be my metamorphism, and who knows may have been the barrier I needed to prevent my ill health taking my life.

Now let us talk about you!

Are you facing a turning point in life with uncertainty about what comes next? You may even wonder if it is possible to move forward from here and chase your dreams.

“Life always waits for some crisis to occur before revealing itself at its most brilliant”. Paul Coelho

Never let life drag you down. The minute you realise you are at your breaking point, make the decision to get back in control and find your brilliant best.

Let your mind focus on some key points’ and let me make this very simple for you. Not flood you with words and waffle.

1. Know that every day counts and refuse to throw away any more time.
2. Remind yourself constantly that every time you fall down, you can stand up again, you have the strength within to go on and be your very best.
3. Accept life’s circumstances. You don’t have control over everything.
4. Make this the time for you to dream, plan, and begin to create the life you want to live.
5. Use frequently an affirmation such as “I do not let fear hold me back, I choose to be happy on my journey to where I’m going”

“Happiness is an inside job”. William Arthur Ward

6. Have meaningful goals, and work towards them everyday. Turning your life around begins with identifying exactly what you want to achieve and then creating a strategy for achieving it.

Give your goals deadlines, and identify the resources you will need and the actions you must take in order to accomplish them. Read your goals every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to sleep to ensure your mind stays focused on your objectives.

You cannot change your life overnight, but you can most certainly change the direction of your life overnight, by you know what I’m going to say, chase your dreams.

Has one of your life’s most challenging circumstances resulted in your growth and development?

Would love to hear from you.
All the best
Larry
