The start of another New Year | Stick to your New Year Resolutions

Share

It is the start of another New Year. How different will this one be for you? Will it follow the same path as the years gone by or will this be the year that you take a totally new path, where you begin to enjoy life far more, taking notice of those special moments, experiencing more happiness and at long last tasting success?

I have no doubts that most of you have set for yourself New Year Resolutions many times before but have found they soon fade away, nothing changes, and before too long you’ve even forgotten what you had hoped to achieve. But either you have just set yourself this year’s New Year Resolutions or soon will be, so what will make the difference this year? What is it you can do to actually see things through to their successful implementation?

Maybe you’ve written them down. If so congratulations because we all know that New Year resolutions when written down increase your chances of success tenfold. But you need to do more than that if you want your New Year resolutions to be successful. Firstly having written them down, you need to look at them every single day. By just doing this you are reminding yourself what it is you want to achieve, every single day, empowering yourself. Empowerment is key to achieving anything in life, and that is why it is so important for you to learn and use the power of visualisation.

I’m sure you’ve heard this before. Visualising your dreams, goals, aspirations, seeing them clearly achieved in your mind, motivates you better than anything else, and gives you direction and belief. Time after time you read about sports stars who use the power of visualisation. Visualisation is a powerful tool that has been used by top-level athletes in virtually every sport. They see themselves doing things perfectly in their mind, practising taking a shot, hitting the ball, throwing the perfect punch.

“I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting up high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I see the ball going there: its path, trajectory, and shape, even its behaviour on landing. Then there is a sort of fade-out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.” Jack Nicklaus

You need to see your dreams working out successfully in your mind. If your resolution is to build a wonderful career, meet your soul mate, or seeing yourself 4 stone lighter then start seeing this in your mind, having achieved your New Year resolutions. Play it out in your mind, because this will empower you more than anything else.

Then build up the power behind your New Year resolution. Ask yourself why do you want this, what difference is it going to make. What it means to you, what it is going to change, how you will feel once you’ve achieved it. Really go through all the reasons you want your particular resolution. Why you want it … You have to find compelling reasons because every resolution or goal you want to achieve is going to take effort, hard work and persistence. You’re sure to come up against obstacles and only if you want it enough will you keep going. You need really strong compelling reasons where it means a lot to you. So work out what they are.

One of the most common New Year resolutions is to give up smoking. You can’t just say to yourself I’m quitting because my doctor told me I need to. This won’t be enough. Saying to yourself ‘it’s just not good for me’ is true but again won’t give you enough motivation to see it through. You need stronger reasons. Yes you’re going to save a fortune, you’re going to be healthier, your breathing will be better, you will smell better, probably add additional years to your life. Now this could mean you get to spend more time with your children, maybe grandchildren.

Perhaps somebody that you know, a good friend of yours, around the same age as you, has recently passed away due to a smoking disease, this has frightened you, after all you don’t want this to happen to you, nor put your children through what his went through. You want to live longer, and by quitting smoking, you may add 10, 20 even 30 years to your life. So for your New Year resolution, whatever it may be, dig deep, to find your compelling reasons.

Don’t stop there. You now have your resolution written down, you’ve created a vision in your mind of what achieving it will mean and you have determined the really strong reasons you want it.
Next decide to stop fate determining your success, leaving it in the hands of lady luck. Instead why don’t you actually plan? What do I mean by that? Well to achieve anything you have to take various steps, so ask yourself ‘what steps will I need to take to achieve my New Year resolution?’ The actions, activities that will lead you to its accomplishment. What resources will you need? Who can help you? What things do you need to avoid? What are the priority actions you going to have to take to achieve your New Year resolution? Figure them out and get them down on paper.

By doing this you are getting clear on what you have to do to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Get all these things written down, and then start doing them.

Every morning you should take 5 to 10 minutes to read through your New Year resolution, think about the vision you have in your head once successful and remember all your reasons for wanting it. Then look over the actions you need to be taking and make sure you stick to them the rest of the day.

I want to help make this a lot easier for you. You can do it on your own, I’ve given you the key steps in this article. Alternatively let me help you. This will be at no cost, well except for your own precious time. But I assure you this won’t be wasted. I have created a program called the single page plan which will enable anyone to bring about massive change in their life, allow anybody to achieve any New Year resolution they want to achieve. You need a process to follow, well I’m going to give you this and best still help you to have just a single piece of paper that will become your life’s blueprint and provides everything you need to focus on. Yes on a single piece of paper. I have created a series of videos for you to watch that will take you through the entire process and teach you how to create your life plan and give yourself the ability to succeed with your New Year resolutions.

Go check it out and make 2017 the year you achieve all your New Year Resolutions.
